How to Draw a Skull

Start the lessonStage 1: Build the Skull Framework
Sketch a large rounded shape for the upper skull with a smaller upright oval overlapping its lower left side. Add a wide, rounded jaw block beneath the oval, tilting its upper edge upward to the right.
Stage 2: Shapes
Curve the right side of the face into a pointed cheekbone that extends toward the back of the skull. Refine the jaw into a broad chin and an upright right side, adding a curved inner line to separate its front and side.
Stage 3: Draw the Facial Details
Outline two rounded eye sockets beneath raised brow ridges and a tapered nose opening between them. Define the cheekbones and jaw joints, then divide the closed mouth into two rows of teeth. Lighten the overlapping construction lines.
Stage 4: Finish the Shaded Skull
Deepen the eye sockets, nose opening, and hollows beneath the cheekbones with dark pencil shading. Build softer shading across the right side of the upper skull and jaw, leaving the forehead, tooth fronts, and chin lighter. Refine the contours and add fine pencil texture to complete the skull sketch.
