How to Draw a Frog

Start the lessonStage 1: Place the Main Ovals
Sketch a wide head oval above and to the left of a large tilted body oval. Add two narrow ovals for the front legs and a broad oval on the right for the folded hind leg.
Stage 2: Shapes
Connect the head and body with curved throat and back outlines. Build the bent front legs from rounded segments, adding flat ovals for both forefeet. Add a narrow folded section beneath the large hind-leg oval.
Stage 3: Draw the Face and Toes
Shape two raised eyes with inner rims and upright pupils, making the eye on the left narrower. Add a nostril, a long closed mouth, and a small oval behind the larger eye. Replace the foot ovals with spreading toes and broad round pads, including the hind toes beneath the body.
Stage 4: Finish the Shaded Frog
Remove the construction lines and refine the frog’s contours. Darken the pupils and eye rims, then shade the body and folded limbs while leaving highlights on the eyes, skin, and toe pads. Keep the throat and belly lighter, and add a soft ground shadow to complete the pencil drawing.
