How to Draw a Car
A compact four-door sedan is shown with rounded bodywork and two visible wheels. Explore the wheel spacing, curved roof, and window shapes that define this everyday car from a clear side view.
Start the lessonStage 1: Body and Wheel Guides
Sketch a long, low rectangle for the body and a wide oval overlapping its top for the cabin. Place two equal wheel circles near opposite ends, extending below the rectangle.
Stage 2: Shapes
Shape the guides into a curved roof, a sloping hood on the left, and a short trunk on the right. Round the body ends and curve the lower outline around the wheels. Outline one broad window area beneath the roof.
Stage 3: Windows, Doors, and Lights
Divide the window area and draw the two visible door outlines with handles. Add the side mirror, light housings, bumper edges, and circular fuel door above the rear wheel. Draw smaller circles inside both wheels to mark the rims.
Stage 4: Finish the Pencil Drawing
Add wheel spokes, central hubs, and details inside the lights. Darken the tires and window frames, and lightly shade the windows and body while leaving bright highlights. Remove remaining guides and add a soft ground shadow to complete the car.
